Abstract submission for consideration of inclusion into the scientific program of the 44th Annual Congress of the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association is now opened. Authors are requested to be certain that their abstracts meet the abstract submission criteria and guidelines as listed below. Abstract will not be considered for inclusion into the scientific program if it fails to comply with the guidelines.
- All abstracts must be submitted electronically through the online abstract submission system.
- The submission of the abstract must be completed on or before 15 July 2024, 23:59 (HK Time). Abstracts received after this deadline will not be accepted for inclusion into the scientific program of the 44th Annual Congress of the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association.
- All abstracts must be submitted in ENGLISH. No other language is allowed.
- The authors must indicate the presenter of the paper during abstract submission. The presenter MUST be one of the authors. Maximum 10 authors allowed for each submission.
- The submitted abstract can either be a structured abstract or an unstructured abstract. However, the total word count of the abstract cannot exceed 250 words.
- Abstracts can only be submitted in either one of the two types of presentation: oral presentation or poster presentation.

- The authors must indicate the topic of the abstract during submission of the abstract.
- For abstract submitted as oral presentation, the authors must indicate whether they want their abstract to be listed for the Award Paper Winning Selection.
- If the authors select to have their abstract listed in the Award Paper Winning Selection, an extended abstract must be submitted at the same time according to the instruction of the online abstract submission system. Please click here for the Guideline for extended abstract submission.
- Please read the Guideline for extended abstract submission carefully before you submit the extended abstract. NO change is allowed once the submission process of the online abstract is completed.
- All abstracts submitted as poster presentation will be listed for the Award Poster Selection.
- Once the online submission process of the abstract is completed, the content of the abstract is NOT allowed to be changed.
- If the authors need to submit a second abstract, authors must use a NEW form for EACH abstract.
- Successfully submitted abstracts will be acknowledged within 2 working days. Please contact International Conference Consultants Ltd (abstract@hkoa-ac.org) if you do not receive the acknowledgement.
- All abstract presenters MUST register with the 44th Annual Congress of Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association on or before 30 September 2024. Abstracts are not allowed to be presented or published if registration of the presenter is not received on or before 30 September 2024.
Acceptance of the abstract in the program and assignment to a session are determined solely by the Scientific Committee based on a review of the abstract and its subject matter. Decisions of the Scientific Committee are final. Due to the logistics of assigning abstracts to sessions and the number of abstracts received, requests for specific sessions, days, or times will not be considered by the Scientific Committee.
The Committee will review all abstracts and a notice of acceptance will be sent around 15 September 2024 if accepted. Session assignments will be notified around 30 September 2024, both to the email address given for correspondence. Authors are encouraged to submit their abstracts as early as possible.
The final decision on the topic of the abstract and type of presentation are made by the Scientific Committee based on a review of the submitted abstract. The Scientific Committee reserved the final right on paper selection and to re-allocate the topic of abstract and type of presentation.
For abstract accepted as oral presentation, the presentation file must be submitted on or before 17:00 (HK Time) on 18 October 2024 according to the Oral Presentation Instructions. Failure to comply may lead to disqualification of the presentation status.
For abstract accepted as poster presentation, the authors must upload the electronic poster to the designated webpage on or before 30 September 2024. The guideline of Electronic Poster Submission is listed in a separate document. Failure to comply may lead to disqualification of the presentation status.
